While the COVID-19 pandemic may have officially ended a couple of years ago, record-high inflation rates have many Americans wondering if they’ll receive another round of government-issued stimulus checks. The answer, unfortunately, is there is a stimulus check for 2023. However, there are a few states that are still offering special rebate payments to residents to help offset the high cost of living.

You must have filed your 2020 taxes or submitted a simplified tax return. You must also be a Social Security or railroad retiree, or a beneficiary of Supplemental Security Insurance or Veterans Affairs benefits. If you do not meet these requirements, you can still apply to receive a one-time payment by using the IRS’ Get My Payment tool.
The Future of Financial Assistance: What to Expect Regarding Stimulus Checks in 2023
The federal government has already issued three rounds of stimulus checks. The first, in March of 2020, was for $1,200 and was part of the CARES Act. The second was sent in December of that same year, and the third was included in the American Rescue Plan passed in March of 2021.
The American Rescue Plan was a massive economic package that included a fourth round of stimulus checks of up to $,1400 per individual or $2,800 per married couple. It also extended unemployment benefits, increased the child tax credit and reserved billions for state and local aid. Unfortunately, Congress hasn’t approved any plans for a fifth round of stimulus checks as of yet, and even if they did, getting such a bill through the current divided government would be incredibly difficult.
